A Useful Guide On How To Stop Worrying
Life is full of challenges and unknowns, and worrying is the natural response to various
stressful situations. But sometimes, the worrying can take a hold of our lives it can becomes chronic,
obsessive and all-consuming, and it starts interfering with our ability to function calmly and
rationally.
What type of person are
you?
We have all heard that he or she is a worrier, one day they
will worry themselves to death. How to stop worrying applies to men as much as women . They also see problems in a
situation that is not there. People with money worry about losing it people without money just worry. A compulsive
worrier will never be able to stop worrying it’s in their nature and the best way to help them is to get them to
analyse their worries and to show them there is always a solution.
So what type are you? Out going, shy, moody? It will make a
different to how quick you can control your worries.
So what type are you? Do you assess a situation correctly, or
do you find yourself engrossed thinking about possibilities that may not happen. Adopting the realistic approach,
and analysing the situation in every detail may help you deal with the worry more effectively. The best way to do
this is to become your own therapist. Look at yourself as another person. How would you get that person to write
their problems down and then help them with their answers. What is happening here is you are taking emotion out of
your situation and putting logic in. So once you have found ways to help this imagery you. Once you have done this,
use the advice yourself.

Thought stopping method
Thought stopping is another effective way to stop worrying.
This technique is based on consciously issuing the command “Stop!” whenever worrying and negative thoughts come
into your mind. The word stop could be replaced by “Cancel That” or “Delete That” If you use this you must as soon
as you say stop, delete or cancel to yourself you MUST put a positive thought in its place, otherwise you just slip
back into the negative thought pattern you have. What you are doing is placing one habit (negativity) with another
habit (positivism) If you do this every time, one of two things will happen. One, your sub- conscious will send
negative thoughts into your conscious mind to stop this silliness (our sub-conscious doesn’t like change) but you
keep replacing that negative with a positive thought. The second thing that will happen after you keep it going for
a few days is your sub-conscious will change and will send you thoughts and ways how to be more positive. (very
true) As you read this has your sub-conscious already hit you with a negative thought or a positive
one?
Another way how to stop worrying is to write down your
worries, and tackle them one at a time. When you see your worries in black and white they don’t look so
frightening. Each worry can be broken down into small bits. In sales there is a method that some sale people use to
get their customers to look at their offer in a more logical way (they are trying to get the fear and emotions out
of the way) In the UK it is called the Churchill method. A sheet of white plain paper has a line drawn down the
middle, splitting the paper into two columns. In one column the sales person write all the positive points on the
product they are selling, which are many. They then get their customer to write down all the reason why they should
not buy, now most sales people get this wrong. They think the positive side should always have more in the reasons
to buy thing, than the customer has put down, which is wrong. The experience salesperson knows they have a list of
the real reasons why their customer is not signing up at that moment and the experience salesperson will go over
each item the customer has put down and answering their fears. That’s what you can do. Write down the positive and
negative of your problem, once you see them then you can deal with them one at a time.
We all worry through our lives and no one cannot worry at
some time or other. It is good to have some level of stress as this give us motivation to achieve things we want.
How to stop worrying excessively is what your goal should be, to master your problems not be a slave to them. It
also can be quite beneficial to have a positive support group around you, family, friends or maybe there is a group
in your area that is set up to give help to people with anxiety, stress and worries, have a look.
And lastly this is a big no,
no don’t absorb other peoples worries on your shoulders. Severiano Ballesteros the Spanish golfer is said to visualise a shield all around him
when he is playing golf, he was reported to say “not everyone watching him wanted him to win“, so he enclosed
himself with a mental shield to stop negative thoughts from others touching him. In truth he has given
himself a very positive thought that he carries around the golf course.
